Surfers Paradise Australia Surf Travel GuideSurfers Paradise Gold Coast Australia
Surfer's Paradise will probably distract you from surfing with all its attractions and near-by theme parks. The Gold Coast is Australia sunshine getaway of choice and locals think of it as “the coast with the most”. Out in the surf, the waves work on this stretch on all tides and need a NW or straight west swell to get working with at least 3ft waves to make it worthwhile. The waves at Surfer's Paradise aren't the pick of the bunch but they can be short, fun and hollow and don't tend to be too crowded.
While you are in the area you should consider surfing the The Alley, Superbank and Duranbah before travelling down to Byron Bay to surf The Pass, or a further hour south to Lennox Head. Alternatively you can fly out from Coolangatta and taking a flight down to Melbourne to surf Bells Beach or over to Perth in West Australia to have a crack at Margaret River. |
