Lennox Head Australia Surf Travel Guide

Lennox Head, NSW, Australia

Lennox Head, NSW, AustraliaLennox head has a world class right hand pointbreak that on a good day will reel down the rocky point for 500m. Believe me, that is a very long way to surf!

The waves usually have to get above the 3ft mark to really start working but can get as big as 15ft on the biggest days. There's always a catch - entry into the water and getting back onto land is notoriously difficult due to the boulders that line the point all the way to the beach. PS. there are a few golden beachbreaks nearby that you won't want to miss.

  • Climate: Sub-Tropical about 300 days sunshine per year
  • Average Air Temps: Summer 68-95°F (20-35°C) Winter 50-77°F (10-25°C)
  • Average Water Temps: 65 – 75°F (18 – 23°C)
  • Best Surf: January - July
  • Surfboards: Full Quiver (mostly just shortboard)
  • Wetsuits: boardshorts/springy OCT - APRIL; steamer in winter

While you are in the area you should consider surfing the Superbank, or The Alley, Burleigh Heads or Stradbroke Island on the Gold Coast. Alternatively, you can fly out from Coolangatta or Brisbane down to Melbourne to surf Bells Beach or over to Perth in West Australia to have a crack at Margaret River.
